Thousand Island Dressing

For those that have seen my recipe for Rueben Egg Rolls, I mentioned how this dressing is a popular condiment for the dish. If you missed it, just click on the picture below of the Rueben Egg Rolls and it will take you to that recipe. Or just visit the page “Stolen Recipes For The Beast”.

Thousand Island dressing is extremely popular and can be used with many dishes. Probably the most popular is on a salad. It is a creamy dressing with excellent flavors. It is also on the sweet side which goes well will foods that have a briny or bitter taste.

You can make this dressing for the fraction of the cost of a jar at the supermarket and couldn’t be simpler to make. It will take you less time to make this then it will to tear the plastic seal off a store bought bottle. The recipe below will yield approximately two cups of dressing.

  • 2 Cups of mayonnaise
  • 1/4 Cup of ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup sweet pickle relish
  • 1/2 Cup minced yellow onion
  • 1 Teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 2 Teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Kosher salt

  • Whisk all the ingredients together
  • Refrigerate for one day to enhance all the flavors
  • Serve
